Good food, good beer selection, waitstaff usually feels overwhelmed, but is nice.

Chicken sandwich is tasty. If you get ice cream, get the scoops and not the sandwich, because the cookies are dry

My mother moved to Bloomingdale about a year ago. This is the first place we ate. Really laid back atmosphere and great food.

The Pub & The People is housed in Bloomingdale, within the NW quadrant of the city. Its backdrop consists of Victorian-style rowhouses erected circa 1900. A welcomed addition, The Pub not only takes notes from the diverse history of DC, it also attracts patrons who revel in its daily attractions: appetizing entrees accompanied by an elite selection of craft bottles, wines, aged whiskeys and bourbons. The design sense is calm, clean and neutral: the black of casement windows, its machine parts, the gray sheen of aluminum and steel, the creamy white of subway tile and the weathered earth tones of worn hardwood floorboards adorn its interior. These elements provides a gingerly mix to both architectural worlds--Industrial and the grandeur of classical historic structures.

The ambiance, music (rock-janis joplin, beatles) and drinks are good but the food was just ok or lets say standard pub food not great as stated...

Great atmosphere and awesome whiskey selection! Had brunch here twice and both times didn't care for the food or service, unfortunately. This is a drinks-only place now. Bartenders are hit or miss or I'd have given 5 stars. Sometimes they're cool and chatty and act like they remember you and other times they stand there talking to a friend looking at you but ignoring through fact that you're waiting for a drink. (I bartended for 11 years so I'm not the jerk who stands there yelling and waving my hands....so they're not ignoring me because I'm annoying!) The bathrooms are seriously my favorite part, I know, weird!! They're decorated with tons of framed pics of customers' dogs and I could stand in there all day looking at them! Awesome patio in the summer and good location if you're in the NoMa area...we need more walkable bars!

A great little place in an authentic DC neighborhood. Had Sunday brunch and it was very good. Did the fried chicken and waffles based on recommendation and it was great. Never would have thought to try that! Good beer and service with a nice ambience. Excellent overall.

Great drinks! I went here for my 34th birthday party with some friends and put away a serious amount of bourbon-based beverages. I had been only once before this and was blown away by the cauliflower hot "wings" as well. This time I had a burger, but I was so blotto that I barely remember eating it. Must've been pretty damn good, though, since I didn't see it again the next day even though I was hungover for a solid 12 hours and could barely move. My wife even ordered me chicken soup from Rx Chicken the next day like I was an invalid. We also sat outside so the dog we were dog-sitting could hang out with us. They brought him water and he was able to chill on someone's lap the whole four hours we were there. Love this place...

For what this place is, I give it 5 stars. It's right off of a bust street in the beautiful Bloomingdale neighborhood. It's the life and soul of the neighborhood with its outdoor seating and chill vibe. It's a new kind of bar that offers a large selection of drinks and a quality food menu. I ordered the daily seasonal sangria for $6 and the chicken breast sandwich with a side of corn on the cob. Both were amazing! Pub and the People will make you feel urban chic and so grateful to live in a city like DC!

Amazing food, fabulous service, chilled vibe...what's not to love!!...you have to try the Mexican Greyhound cocktail, the brussel sprouts and the Carmel bras pudding with cinnamon ice cream...seriously life changing :)

Very beer and food in a traditional Pub atmosphere. A row of small tables and a long bar line the narrow interior. More seating outside when it's nice out. Chicken sandwich is excellent.

  • *****

Great local bar. Bartenders are friendly, and they have a great variety of drinks. Rotating menu of delicious foods.

Very sleek and cool place to come hang out

A great location and very attentive service. The waitress was very friendly and after a brief mistake with my salad, offered an extra one in return. The cocktails were great and the happy hour keeps things affordable. Great screens for watching the games too.

Great little neighborhood spot. Not an extensive menu, but pretty good food, very nice staff, and a perfect addition to the area.

Just walking up it has a great spot on the block. The bar is well appointed with a mix of vintage and modern elements. My wife and I ate here two nights. The first night we went crazy and had grilled tuna, pork belly, blueshell mussels, lettuce wraps, caprese salad, and finished up with the ice cream sandwich. It was all amazing. We also had fun conversations with a couple of regulars. The second night there was an art show in the neighborhood and it was really busy but we sat on the patio and had the veggie burger and the Elotes Locos. Both were great again. We could hear the music coming from inside and shared our table with a couple of other patrons. Both nights contributed to a great trip to DC. I wish we lived closer this is a great neighborhood pub.

For a freshman entry into the revitalization that is happening from Shaw to Eckington, the Pub & the People are starting out with a bang. I tried something from each section of the menu (and my friend's selection too) and was pleasantly surprised to thoroughly enjoy each one. The lettuce wraps were light and packed with flavor, the braised pork belly literally melted in my mouth (the cashew curry--couldn't get enough of it), and the cocktail I chose from the menu was the perfect springtime refreshment. This is definitely a place to make repeat visits. Can't wait until their patio is open.

My friend and I were wowed by the food, friendly service and ambience. I had the flatbread with hummus, roasted red peppers and arugula - yum - and a bite of my friend's asparagus melt on ciabatta bread. I don't know what else was on that sandwich but it was delicious. They have traditional tavern choices but also food that I would expect to find under the "fine dining" category. They have done a beautiful job refurbishing the space and keeping the feel of an old neighborhood bar, with touches like a bring a book - take a book - lending library on the shelves amongst the liquor bottles behind the bar. The owners clearly want to be a part of the neighborhood and have a large patio space planned to open sometime soon that will be a fantastic gathering place in good weather. I recommend this place highly - more than just a pub but if all you want is to relax with a beer it's a great place for that, too!

This bar is in my neighborhood and it happens to be one of my favorite bars in DC. The service is great, and everyone is very accommodating. They have a lending library behind the bar, so if you give them a book you can take a new one to read. There are also plans for a basement bar opening in the fall and potentially a roof deck. Great spot, definitely worth checking out. The food was excellent too. They have also have a great tap list which rotates almost daily. Great craft beer selection for about the 20 beers they have on the menu.
